Lights Out on the 29th

Did you take part in Earth Hour 2008?
Did you
help to deliver a powerful message about the need for action on global warming by switching off ALL the lights between 8 - 9pm?

I switched off the lights and everything (I could think of) on Saturday night...and endured the ferocious bites from the mozzies in the process. It was amazing to watch the electricity meter sloooooow down quite drastically.

I'll be trying my darndest to keep this up and will start to learn about my own carbon footprint and what I can do to reduce it. For a start I'll be keeping more vigilant on the electricity consumption - have more air-cond-less nights and all that.

For the last 3 months I stopped accepting plastic carrier bags from the stores & supermarkets whenever possible. I carry reusable bags in the car & my handbag with which to load up the groceries, magazines, books, etc. It's amazing how much less carrier bags we have to deal with at home. As for all those paper carrier bags, I use them as alternative dustbins.

It's not too late for us to continue to help our world. Get ready for Earth Hour 2009 - sign up now and see the difference you can make to reduce your impact on climate change.
